Everyone is a newbie when they first enter Second Life or other grid -- but give yourself time to acclimate and soon you will be a happy resident of a wonderful new world!

I'll share some resources that I know of, that have helpful to me.
Firestorm Viewer - better by far than the Second Life official viewer (and call me old-school, but I use the Phoenix-style option)
NCI (New Citizens Incorporated) - LOTS of classes and help, group chat for questions
Caledon Oxbridge (University of Caledon Oxbridge) - classes and help, group chat for questions
Helping/Learning/ groups are out there... I am looking for some to recommend
